Dripped in Gold for Darkly Magazine

Dripped in gold and glowing with power, this editorial shoot for Darkly Magazine was all about bold styling, regal energy and spotlighting Black beauty in full force.

Dripped in Gold was a dream collab with the one-woman powerhouse that is Naomi. We wanted a warm brown theme with a strong gold contrast, and had Pinterest boards at the ready full of our thoughts. Model, stylist and full-blown muse, Naomi turned up draped in gold from head to hands, nails to nose rings, serving look after look. Every accessory was intentional, chosen to compliment her skin tone and that flawless sense of style she owns so effortlessly.

We wanted that all-gold-everything vibe but make it fashion editorial with bite.

Lighting played a massive role in the feel of the photoshoot. I went with a deep brown backdrop, rich, warm, and my favourite on camera. Naomi was lit using a softbox as my key, with a second strip softbox on the opposite side to soften those shadows while keeping that texture and depth. It needed to feel soft but powerful. Polished but raw. And ahhh it delivered!

When the set was done, I sent the images over to Darkly Magazine, and they didn’t hesitate, it went straight on the cover.

The whole editorial is a celebration of strength, style and the kind of presence you can’t ignore.
